About The Role
The Postdoctoral Research Liaison bridges academic postdocs into industry-partnership work. This role leverages postdoctoral research expertise to support technology scouting and research intelligence while providing a pathway from academia to industry.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Bridge academic research expertise with industry partnership needs through technology scouting and assessment
- Evaluate emerging technologies from academic labs for commercial potential and partnership fit
- Develop relationships with academic research groups and principal investigators in relevant domains
- Translate complex research findings into actionable intelligence for clients and internal teams
- Contribute technical expertise to multi-client research programs and landscape analyses
- Write research briefs, technical assessments, and industry-facing technology summaries
- Participate in client meetings and present technical findings to non-technical audiences
Qualifications (required):
- PhD in a relevant STEM field completed or near completion
- Current or recent postdoctoral research position
- Deep expertise in a specific technical domain with broad scientific literacy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences
Qualifications (preferred):
- Experience in technology scouting, consulting, or industry R&D
- Published research record in peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrated interest in technology commercialization and industry partnerships
- Network within academic research community across multiple institutions
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000 annually. Melan offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, equity, PTO, and professional development budget. The salary range displayed reflects an average base salary range for the position across all the U.S. The base salary offered to an applicant could be higher or lower based on each applicant’s specific skill set, depth of experience, relevant education or training, etc.
